The Windows and Mac desktop clients will benefit from the speed boost in the next version which is being rolled out now. Microsoft went through a ‘comprehensive analysis’ of key user workflows, and did some in-depth A/B testing to evaluate the issues. New upgraded framework provides a bunch of benefits, including faster HTML rendering, as well as running Javascript and essential arrays more efficiently.
Speedy Times For Teams At Last
Switching between chats, channels and activity feeds is now around 32% to 39% better than it was two years ago. The time-to-join metric has now been improved by a whopping 21%, with responsiveness during meetings also improved.
Linux Teams Transitions
The Linux desktop client for Microsoft Teams is to be ‘retired’ in early December. Users will be forced to transition to a new progressive web app (PWA) Microsoft insists that the new web app will offer the ‘best of the web with key functionalities of client’. The new PWA will become generally available over the run up to December.
