LinkedIn has announced a new way of verifying users’ identities and employment roles without cost. It will partner with CLEAR in the US to verify a user’s government ID and phone number, awarding them a new ‘Verifications’ section underneath the ‘Connect’ and ‘Message’ buttons. The platform is initially free and aims to broaden the appeal of the platform in an era of cost-cutting and economic pressure.
LinkedIn verified accounts
LinkedIn has been facing much pressure in recent months due to fake profiles being used for spam purposes. To address this, LinkedIn has partnered with Microsoft Entra Verified ID platform to provide free digital workplace IDs. The free verification methods plan to be rolled out to more markets in the future, but many users will have to wait for more verification methods to be made. LinkedIn hopes that showing “you’re the real you” will lead to better connections and more meaningful networks.
